Here is some information for first time children’s photography clients.
For most children from 9 months to 7 years parents
can expect about an hour’s worth of photography total before the child
lets us know we are done. I set aside an hour and a half of time
together total for each client as small children need to take breaks,
nurse and change diapers. I take a half an hour between each
client to clean up and prepare for the next client’s arrival.
I have found what works best is for client’s to
arrive on time and start quickly while the surroundings are new and
fresh to the child. I also ask families to
arrive on time and not early out of
courtesy to other clients who may be finishing up and for me as I
prepare for you.
I ask you to bring multiple outfits and to let me
see these before we start letting me know which outfits will be most
important. White works great with newborns and this may be
the best time for cloth diapers or nudes. Parents in black work well
with children that are nude and I suggest staying away from collard
outfits for both parents and small children (excluding Christening
gowns) until the children can hold their heads up on their own.
I try to do family and group photos first and then
work with children individually. With siblings I start with the
youngest child and move to the oldest children making the most out of
each child’s attention span.
If you bring snacks, stay away from items that may
color the children’s mouths or muss their outfits or the studio.
Small, white marshmallows are perfect. You may feel free to
nurse in the privacy of my dressing room and I have a television with
children’s programs for siblings who may need to separate. If you
bring multiple children another family member or other helper may help
you to make the most of your experience.
For pregnancy photos or semi-nudes I ask you to
bring your mate or another family member such as as sister or mom.
If you have questions, please feel free to call
during office hours and if you need directions please attain these from
our website. Don’t use Mapquest or GPS, my home is very close to
my studio, and calling just before you come you may find us on
the other line or with other clients and unable to give you directions
at the last moment.
Thank you, I am looking
forward to our experience.
